Skriftdesigner

About you
You are a designer with a strong interest in typography and type design, and you understand the role type plays in creating distinctive and recognisable brands. You care about form, function and systems – from individual letterforms to how a typeface performs across languages, platforms and sizes.
You have experience developing typefaces from initial idea and concept through to finished font files, and your portfolio demonstrates strong typographic craft and attention to detail. You may come from a graphic design or brand identity background, but have specialised in type design and font development.
You are curious and precise, enjoy experimenting and have high ambitions for your craft. You are comfortable challenging established solutions, while understanding that type design is about balancing character, legibility, technical requirements and the needs of the brand.
Your day-to-day
At Bielke&Yang, you will work on custom typefaces and typographic systems for a range of brands and identities. Sometimes we develop a typeface from scratch; other times we adapt or extend existing typography for a specific brand, language or digital context.
You will work closely with brand designers, digital designers, developers and strategists, helping define how typography works as an integral part of the overall identity.
Your responsibilities may include research and typographic concept development, drawing, developing character sets and language support, OpenType features, variable fonts, testing and quality assurance across digital and physical applications, as well as presentations and client dialogue.
At times, you may work in depth on the development of one larger typeface. At others, you will bring your typographic expertise into several identity projects at once.
